David G. Grissom, 17

David Grissom, a 17-year-old black teenager, was fatally shot Tuesday, Sept. 9, near West 28th Street and Hillcrest Drive in West-Adams, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 10:15 a.m., Grissom was approaching the intersection when a black man, believed to be between the ages of 17 and 22, walked up to him and shot him multiple times, said LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera.

Grissom ran a short distance before collapsing.

Grissom was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:25 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
