Davion Deshawn Branch, 25

Davion Deshawn Branch, a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Nov. 16, in the 2400 block of West Tichenor Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Witnesses told deputies that Branch got into an argument with his older brother shortly before 4:45 p.m. The argument turned violent, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Branch’s brother, later identified as Dion Landry, a 44-year-old black man, left the fight and returned with a gun, according to the news release.

When deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim, they found Branch in the backyard, suffering from gunshot wounds. A handgun was recovered, and Landry was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Landry has been charged with one count of murder, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. He has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court Dec. 22.
