Dwayne Kenneth McKesson, a 47-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, June 12, in the 8600 block of Maie Avenue in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Witnesses in the area heard gunshots about 2:45 p.m., then saw McKesson on the west curb of Maie Avenue, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

McKesson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.Winter said that McKesson was walking down the street when he was shot.

Witnesses said that the gunman walked into an alley near the scene, Coleman said.

Outsider you can sit there and justify your words all you want but you have done nothing to stop your I don’t know what he was to you but from past postings I would call him your employee. You have not asked meaningful and thought provoking questions. Nor are you asking questions that come even close to making a change. You sit in your seat thrilled to have found this blog and offer criticisms and worst you point the finger into a situation and circumstances you don’t have the ability to understand not because I think you are dumb but because it is a topic that you don’t get. Kind of like how I don’t get the peril that the service men experience in Iraq. I can offer my empathy but I don’t really get what it is they are going through. And I am not taking feelings…you want to feel bad for your employee, great you are entitle to that but what you are not entitle do (Piers) is to sit on your butt overseas and pass judgment on a situation that you know nothing about. I don’t dare to pick apart your precious monarchy…why because I don’t understand it. My passion isn’t for the monarchy. But yet you have the nerve to sit there and pass judgment on a situation that you know nothing about and something that you have already judged.
What have I done you ask? I get up every morning and sit in a dark and grungy office making a poor man’s dollar begging kids to be the change, to make the change they want to see. Have I reached them all obviously not! Have I visited more kids in lock up than I care to think about…you betcha. But what I don’t do is sit in this country and pass judgment on your country and its citizens. But that’s so typical of someone in your position…with all the wisdom that can fill a thimble passing judgment from behind a computer. No sir or madam you have not contributed one ounce of thoughtful change rather you pass judgment and point the finger. You may very well be pro-gun but your arrogance comes across just like Peirs. He had much to say about our politics and our government and yet his own country was drowning in self righteousness. But on the other hand I guess that’s the biggest difference between my country and yours…you are allowed to be a pompous all you want even if it is from all the way across the pond.

the reason I'm here, the reason I have time on my hands, the reason I have opinions...

someone I was working with is here... therefore I'm no longer working with him... someone else I am working with looks very much like he's going to end up here unless I wake up to myself and stop being a part of the problem...

so please, don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about... as for specifics, maybe not... but as for the big picture I probably know better than you do... I know loss, I know regret, I know wishing I'd said something while he was alive... and I know anger about it...

I can't turn back time... so this is me trying to make amends for not changing things while I could...

I'm very sorry but that's me sticking my nose in... and I'm not going to stop that because Bruce Springsteen got on his high horse and yeeehaw'd at me...

also... that's 2 Peirs Morgan references now... considering I'm actually pro guns you'd have been better suited throwing some Harry Potter joke at me...

but I never wanted this to be about where I was from or what I do... I am not important... the dead man above and the reasons he's dead is the important part...
