Francisco Manuel Cuevas, 16

Francisco Manuel Cuevas, a 16-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Feb. 21, in the 900 block of Fraser Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Cuevas and two teenagers were standing outside of a home when an SUV pulled up. A gunman got out of the passenger side of the SUV, walked up to the teenagers and began shooting, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The gunman returned to the SUV, which sped away westbound through an alley, according to the release.

Cuevas and another teenager were wounded. The third teenager was uninjured.

Cuevas was pronounced dead at a hospital at 9:35 p.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner's spokesman. An autopsy showed that Cuevas died of a gunshot wound. The other teenager is expected to survive.
