Gilberto Francis Guzman, 41

Gilberto Francis Guzman, a 41-year-old white man, was fatally shot Saturday, Aug. 18, in the 1200 block of East 56th Street in Central-Alameda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The shooting was reported shortly after 11 p.m., said Sgt. Tonya Dummar of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division.

Guzman was a guest at a wedding reception and had been talking to a man in a nearby alley. The man then shot Guzman in the torso, Dummar said.

The victim was taken to L.A. County / USC Medical Center for treatment, but was pronounced dead at 11:53 p.m.

Police had little information on the suspect's description, saying only that he was a Latino.
