A story for every victim

Humberto Rodriguez, 30

Humberto Rodriguez, a 30-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Dec. 4, in the 3500 block of East 54th Street in Central-Alameda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officials responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting shortly after 6:00 p.m. The victim was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:46 p.m.

Rodriguez, who was from Maywood, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to L.A. County coroner’s office spokesman Ed Winter.

Investigators are pursuing leads in the case, said Sgt. J. Cochran, but no arrests have been made. There appeared to be no evidence of a fight—the victim was walking down the street, nearing his house, when he was confronted by two Latinos. Both are believed to be the shooters, said Cochran. Detectives have not confirmed that the shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with details about the killing or the identity of the shooters is asked to contact the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
