James Gregory Jackson, 30

 James Gregory Jackson, a 30-year-old black man, died early Thursday, Aug. 27, after he was shot in the 3100 block of Canfield Avenue in Palms neighborhood of West Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

Los Angeles police went to the scene about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, after receiving a call about a man being shot, according to a department news release 

Jackson had been standing outside when he was shot, but investigators don't have any information about motive or suspects, according to the release.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took Jackson to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m., according to coroner's records.
