Jeffrey Luke Dale, 28

Jeffrey Luke Dale, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed May 30 in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Los Angeles Police officers were walking near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and North Las Palmas Avenue when they heard what sounded like gunshots, according to a news release from the department.

The officers found Dale unconscious in the area.  Dale was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m., according to coroner’s records. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
