Jessy Acosta, a 15-year-old Latino, was shot and killed  Friday, Nov. 6, in the 700 block of McDonnell Avenue in East Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 11:20 p.m., said Deputy Aura Sierra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Acosta got into a fight at a party with a man between 17 and 21 years old, authorities said.

The man drew a handgun, shot Acosta in the upper torso and fled, Sierra said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, coroner's officials said.

Sheriff's investigators were interviewing partygoers to obtain information about the gunman. About 75 people were at the party.
