A story for every victim

Jesus Javier Paez, 22

Jesus Javier Paez, a 22-year-old Latino, died Monday, May 9, after he was shot in the 4300 block of Clara Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were called to the residential area about 2 p.m. regarding a gunshot victim on the front porch of a home, said Lt. Steve Jauch.

When deputies arrived, they found Paez sitting in a patio chair with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:23 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Paez did not have a known address, Jauch said, but he knew people who lived in the area. He said he couldn't comment further on who Paez was visiting. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Witnesses reported seeing a Latino run from the porch to a white sedan that was parked on the street, Jauch said. The car drove west and out of view.
