A story for every victim

Jesus Manuel Nunez, 22

Jesus Manuel Nunez, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Feb. 3 in the 2100 block of East Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

About 1 a.m., a security guard at a nightclub in the area heard gunfire outside and found Nunez, a Pasadena resident, lying on the sidewalk and another man who was shot in the back, said Lt. Carlos Solano of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:11 a.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.  The other man was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.

The shooting occurred after a “verbal dispute” between the two victims and another group of people, Solano said.

So far, no witnesses have come forward.
