Julio Cesar Pena, 34

Julio Cesar Pena, a 34-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, May 22, in the 400 block of Gulf Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

About 11:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting call and found Pena on the ground, said Los Angeles Police Officer George Romulo.

Pena was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:42 p.m., according to coroner's records. 

Investigators determined that Pena was riding his motorcycle home and about to turn in the intersection of Gulf Avenue and West D Street, when he was approached by a person who stepped off the sidewalk and shot him several times.

Pena lost control of his motorcycle and was found in the street, Romulo said.
