Keonta Karnell Daniels, a 17-year-old black teenager, was shot and killed Thursday, March 27, near South Western Avenue and South 108th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Daniels was standing in front of a restaurant shortly before 1:30 p.m. when a white sedan pulled up, said Lt. Steve Jauch with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses said they heard gunshots coming from the sedan, which then fled eastbound on South 108th Street, Jauch said.

Daniels was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:03 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
