Marques Anthony Bryant, 28

Marques Anthony Bryant, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 28, in the 900 block of North Evers Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Bryant and several other people were standing in the front yard of a home when a dark-colored, compact car pulled up and a person inside fired several bullets at the group, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Bryant was struck and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:06 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office. No one else was injured.
