A story for every victim

Nelsis Dominguez, 32

Nelsis Rodriguez, a 32-year-old Latino man, was shot and killed early Thursday, Sept. 27, near the intersection of 7th Street and Hoover in LAPD's Rampart Division, near Dunkin' Donuts just south of Lafayette Park.

According to Lt. Joe Losorelli of Rampart,  Rodriguez was in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts at about 7:40 a.m. when four Latino men or youths came up to him on foot. There was an argument, they grabbed him by the arm and dragged him around the corner to the front of the Korean Campus Crusade for Christ building on 7th, where they reportedly knocked him down with a baseball bat, then punched and kicked him.

One of the suspects then pulled out a gun, and shot him at close range while he was on the ground. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead. Rodriguez was a laborer with no gang ties, said Det. Fred Faustino of Rampart.

Update: LAPD Rampart detectives have cleared this case. At least one Latino suspect was arrested. The dispute involved a woman.
