Ricardo Daniel Lopez, 23

Ricardo Lopez, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Oct. 24, in the 700 block of South Berendo Street in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

LAPD Olympic homicide Det. John Skaggs, who is handling the case, said Lopez was confronted by a man about 1:23 a.m. and was shot several times.

Authorities were called and Lopez was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Skaggs said it's unknown what transpired prior to the shooting or if the incident was gang-related.

The assailant was described as a Latino, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 180 pounds.
