Richard Van, a 22-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed Monday, March 12, in the 1300 block of Wesley Drive in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 4:30 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to a call of a shooting, according to a news release from the department.
Van was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:56 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Investigators think that multiple people got into a fight before Van was shot, and police think the shooting is gang-related.
