Robert Brown, an 84-year-old black man, died Sunday, Sept. 6, was shot and killed by police in the 10,000 block of South Avalon Boulevard in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Brown shot a manager at his retirement home. When LAPD officers responded to the scene Brown allegedly pointed his weapon at the officers, and at least one officer shot him, Winter said.
The manager, who was not identified, survived the shooting, Winter said.
