Robert Larkin, a 19-year-old black male, was fatally shot Friday, May 19, in the 1200 block of West 90th Street in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

The incident began at 9:56 p.m. when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene regarding a gunshot victim, said Lt. Rodney Moore. 

Witnesses told investigators that Larkin was outside when a light-colored SUV drove up and someone inside began shooting.

The deputies found Larkin lying in a driveway with at least one gunshot wound, Moore said. 

Larkin was pronounced dead at the scene at 10 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the back. 

Investigators were looking for a motive for the shooting and more information about the gunman, described only as a black male.
