Troy Filinow, 18

Troy Filinow, an 18-year-old white man, was shot and killed Monday, Feb. 2 in the 37800 block of Robina Avenue in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Filinow was standing near the road when he was shot. It is unknown whether the assailant walked up or fired the weapon from a vehicle.

Filinow was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
