Uziel Sandoval, 22

Uziel Sandoval, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 23, near Whittier Boulevard and South Alma Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Sandoval, who lived in Huntington Park, was in a pickup at 6:07 p.m. in East L.A. when he got into an argument with three or four Latino adults who were standing at Whittier and Alma, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Ewing said.

Someone in the group pulled a gun and shot at Sandoval multiple times, Ewing said. 

A bullet struck Sandoval in the chest, and he drove a short distance along Alma before crashing, Ewing said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators don’t know the nature of the argument and do not have a description of the shooter, Ewing said.
