Todd Jerome Washington, a 32-year-old black man, was pronounced dead on Friday, Oct. 11, after he was shot in the 1700 block of West 126th Street in the Athens area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner records.
Washington was walking to his parked car with two adult acquaintances — a Latino and a black woman — around 12:30 a.m. when a small dark-colored sedan drove by and shot 12 to 15 rounds in their direction, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Brandon Dean.
The bullets struck Washington in the head, the woman's face and back and the Latino's lower back and right leg, Dean said.
The two acquaintances were treated for their injuries and survived, but Washington was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day at 1 p.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.
