Ryan Washington, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the intersection of North Magnolia Court and North Paulsen Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
A man who was driving to work shortly before 4 a.m. made a U-turn at the intersection and discovered Washington lying in the wet street, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred.
Washington was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:09 a.m., according to coroner's records. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.
It had rained all that night, Alfred said, and it's unclear when Washington was shot. Deputies received reports about gunshots in the area around 2 a.m., but the reports were a few blocks away from where Washington's body was later discovered.

Anthony Mendoza Lopez, a 20-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Saturday, Oct. 20, in the 100 block of South Holly Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Lopez, a resident of Long Beach, was a guest at a large birthday party at a residence on South Holly Avenue, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Scott Hoglund.
More than 100 people were at the party, which included a live band, Hoglund said, but about 1 a.m., "something transpired and it resulted in a shooting."
Lopez was one of two people struck by the gunfire, Hoglund said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:15 a.m. The other victim, a 19-year-old Latino, was taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive his injuries.
Investigators do not have a description of the shooter or what prompted the gunfire, Hoglund said.

Chloe Jane Hunter, a 17-year-old black girl, was fatally shot on Sunday, Sept. 30, in the 200 block of North Long Beach Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Chloe was one of four people shot outside a school carnival at the Optimal Child Development Center at 1300 E. Palmer St. around 5 p.m. The school’s blacktop, where the carnival was being held, is behind the large parking lot for DND Mart Liquor, at 217 N. Long Beach Ave., where Chloe and others had parked to attend the carnival, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Hoglund.

Fidel Andrew Aguirre, a 28-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on Sunday, Sept. 30, near the corner of East Ezmirlian Street and North Bullis Road in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Aguirre was walking east on Ezmirlian Street in front of a strip mall shortly after noon when a man came up to him and began shooting, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Scott Hoglund.
The shooter fled on foot, Hoglund said.
Aguirre was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m., according to coroner’s records. He was shot in the left temple, the back and the ankle. The cause of death was the gunshot to the back, according to coroner’s records.
Investigators used footage from nearby surveillance cameras to identify a suspect, Hoglund said.

The shooting in Talley’s home also killed his stepdaughter, Britney Malone, 13, and seriously injured his wife, Katherine Evans, according to Evans' niece Shayla Greene.
Talley’s 43-year-old son, James Jajuan Williams, was arrested in connection with the shootings, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza. Williams lived in the home with his father and stepmother, along with Britney and her older brother and sister, Greene said.

Richard Allen Jefferson Sr., a 65-year-old black man, was fatally shot on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the 600 block of West Peach Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Jefferson, the father of former NBA basketball player Richard Jefferson, lived in Inglewood. He had driven to the P&G Market in Compton and parked near the store, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
Jefferson went in the market, Mendoza said, and then walked across Paulsen Street and started talking to a man on the sidewalk when a dark-colored sedan passed by heading south around 6:52 p.m., Mendoza said.
Someone in the car began shooting, striking Jefferson multiple times, Mendoza said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m., Mendoza said.
