Jose Luis Sandoval Perez, a 62-year-old Latino male, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, after being stabbed near 2001 S. Western Ave. in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Juan Martinez, a 24-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, May 14, after being shot near 1803 S. Western Ave. in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.
Ramon Andrade, a 41-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Oct. 15, near West 21st Street and South Manhattan Place in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 11:30 p.m., police responded to a call of shooting in the area, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. When officers arrived, they were flagged down by people in the area who directed police to Andrade’s body.
Andrade was pronounced dead at 11:50 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.
Police believe that Andrade was standing alone in the area when a light-colored sedan drove up, police said.
It is unknown whether a person got out of the vehicle, but a light-colored sedan was seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.

Ashoy Hugh Brian Beharie, a 40-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Nov. 13, in the 1200 block of South Manhattan Place in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly after midnight, LAPD officers responded to a call of a person down in front of an apartment building, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.
Officers found Beharie with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:31 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Witnesses told police that a white sedan pulled up and a person got out and shot Beharie, Kinchla said.
On Nov. 21, Kyandre Williams, a 29-year-old black man, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Williams pleaded not guilty to one count of murder on Nov. 27 and is due back in court Dec. 14, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Janalthy Germain Orozco Cid, a 19-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Friday, Nov. 10 near South Manhattan Place and West 21st Streetin Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Orozco Cid was driving with another person in a pickup truck about 10 p.m. and had just turned north on Gramercy Place, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.
Orozco Cid noticed he was being followed by two men in a dark-colored sedan, police said. Orozco Cid stopped his truck, got out and an altercation occurred during which he was stabbed multiple times, Kinchla said.
Orozco Cid was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
On Nov. 13, Jonathan Bryan Castillo, a 22-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to online sheriff’s department records.

Enrique Dominguez-Rodriguez, a 45-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Sept. 10 in the 2000 block of West Venice Boulevard in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 10:15 p.m., Dominguez-Rodriguez and another man had just left a bar and were driving when Dominguez-Rodriguez “cat-called” a woman standing on the corner of Venice Boulevard and Normandie Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke.
There was an exchange of words between Dominguez-Rodriguez and some men who were with the woman, and Dominguez-Rodriguez’s vehicle pulled into a strip mall nearby, Radtke said.
Dominguez-Rodriguez got out of the car and exchanged words with another man, who pulled out a gun and shot him, Radtke said.
Dominguez-Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:22 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The man Dominguez-Rodriguez was with was “pistol-whipped,” Radtke said.

Maylin Zulian Fuentes-Sanabria, a 20-year-old Latina, was found dead Sunday, May 14, in the 1400 block of South Van Ness Avenue in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Fuentes-Sanabria was discovered wrapped in a blanket in a shopping cart about 12:25 a.m., said LAPD Lt. John Radtke.
Investigators discovered that Fuentes-Sanabria had gone to visit a man the went to visit a man in the early morning hours of May 13 in the 1500 Gramercy Place and was strangled, Radtke said.
Fuentes-Sanabria was then dumped a few blocks away, police said.
On May 24, Rene Rolando Ailon, a 26-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to online jail records. Two days later, Ailon was charged with one count of murder and one count of rape, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Felipe Gutierrez Martinez, a 38-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, April 9, after being stabbed in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
William Warren Pruitt Jr., a 59-year-old black man, was fatally stabbed Sunday, Sept. 25, in the 1700 block of South Western Avenue in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 a.m., Pruitt pulled into the parking lot of a Food 4 Less and was walking toward the entrance when he was stabbed in the neck, said Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke.
Two women, believed to be the attacker's mother and sister, tried to help Pruitt, Radtke said. The attacker left the scene with his father; then the two came back.
Police identified Ed Camarena, a 21-year-old Latino, as the suspect in the stabbing. Camarena was with his family and had arrived in the parking lot before they planned to go to church, Radtke said.
Camarena told police that Pruitt “mad-dogged” him, but security footage shows an unprovoked attack, Radtke said.

Erik Antonio Juarez, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot to death Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the 1500 block of South Western Avenue in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 2 p.m., Juarez got into an argument in a marijuana clinic with Jose Eriberto Gonzalez, a 19-year-old Latino, LAPD Lt. John Radtke said.
Investigators believe the two men were gang members, and Juarez had challenged Gonzalez, Radtke said.
After the argument, Juarez left the clinic and returned with a baseball bat. When Juarez went to put the bat away, Gonzalez drew a gun and opened fire, Radtke said.
Juarez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:59 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
Witnesses later provided police with a description of Gonzalez, who was arrested two days later, Radtke said.

Siria Imelda Portillo Torres, a 36-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Saturday, May 9, in the 1400 block of South Western Avenue in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 8 p.m., Torres was standing outside Lupillo’s Bar when she was struck by gunfire, said Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez.
Witnesses told police that after Torres was shot, she walked into the bar and collapsed. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
The gunman is described as a man in his 30s, and police said he may have been trying to shoot at another person.

Emma DeJesus Serin-Paul, a 45-year-old Latina, was found fatally stabbed Sunday, Feb. 8, in the 1700 South Hobart Boulevard in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 6 p.m., police responded to a call of a possible homicide and found Serin-Paul’s body in the doorway of an apartment, said Lt. John Radtke with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police followed a trail of blood and found the woman’s husband in a bedroom with stab wounds. Authorities said that the couple was involved in a dispute.
Serin-Paul was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. at the scene, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office. The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
“We’ll look carefully at the evidence at the scene,” Radtke said. “We’re trying to determine what happened inside between the two of them.”

Eric Martinez, 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, March 8, in the 3000 block of Country Club Drive in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 1:35 a.m., LAPD Wilshire patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting near Country Club and Norton Avenue and found Martinez on the ground behind parked cars.
LAPD Det. Dave Vinton said that Martinez was walking home with a 28-year-old friend when at least two men walked up from behind and fired multiple shots.
Martinez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Mario Castro, a 26-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, Aug. 23, in the 1800 block of South Ardmore Avenue in Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Police responded to a call regarding a shooting about 4:40 p.m., according to an LAPD news release. When authorities arrived, they discovered Castro lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds to his torso.
Officials said Castro was taken by paramedics to California Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m.
During the investigation, detectives learned Castro had just parked his car and was exiting the vehicle when a white SUV pulled up and the occupants came up to him. At that point, words were exchanged and Castro was shot several times. The shooters then fled north on Ardmore Avenue.
Investigators said there were at least four to five occupants in the car. They were described as Latino.
