$25,000 reward offered for information on Inglewood shooting
The city of Inglewood is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the gunman who killed Ira Koger, a 21-year-old black man.
The assault took place about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 24.
Koger was sitting in the driver's seat of his stopped vehicle in the 800 block of West Beach Avenue when a car pulled up beside him, said Det. Lloyd Waters of the Inglewood Police Department.
Witnesses said Koger began having a conversation with a man inside the car, although what they discussed remains unknown. The person in the other vehicle then pulled out a gun and shot four or five rounds into Koger's car, with one bullet hitting Koger in the head, Waters said.
As the assailant fled, Waters said, Koger's car accelerated into a nearby driveway.
Koger was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 a.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
It is believed to have been a gang-related shooting, Waters said.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the gunman is asked to contact Inglewood Police Homicide at (310) 412-5246. Tipsters who'd like to remain anonymous can call (888) 412-7463.
