Details on shooting of Ira Tyrone Koger

Ira Koger, a 21-year-old black man, was sitting in the driver's seat of his stopped vehicle about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 25, when a car pulled up beside him, said Det. Lloyd Waters of the Inglewood Police Department.

Witnesses said Koger began having a conversation with a man inside the car, although what they discussed remains unknown. The person in the other vehicle then pulled out a gun and shot four or five rounds into Koger's car, with one bullet hitting Koger in the head, Waters said. As the assailant fled the scene, Waters said, Koger's car accelerated into a nearby driveway.

Koger was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 a.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.

It is believed to have been a gang-related shooting,  Waters said. There have been no arrests made in connection to the case; authorities are continuing with the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Waters at (310) 412-5246.
