Antwain Deshan Ewells, 40

Antwain Deshan Ewells, a 40-year-old black man, was fatally shot Tuesday, July 9, near West 37th Place and South Harvard Boulevard in Exposition Park, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 10 p.m. neighbors reported hearing shots in the area and observed a person motionless on a sidewalk, LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera said. Police arrived to find Ewells suffering with at least one gunshot wound.

Ewells was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:38 p.m., coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said.

Witnesses said that a gunman shot from a dark-colored sedan, LaBarbera said. Police are seeking additional witnesses.
