Arrest: Authorities capture man suspected of killing Canoga Park woman and her daughter
Last week, the Los Angeles Police Department apprehended a North Hills man who is suspected of killing his niece and her daughter several months ago.
Manuel Carmona, a 51-year-old Latino, was arrested at his home on July 6 and booked at the LAPD Topanga station on suspicion of murder.
On May 14, Los Angeles firefighters received a call of a stabbing about 1:15 p.m. and found the bodies of Martha Carmona, a 21-year-old Latina, and her daughter, Valerie Camacho, a 6-year-old Latina, at a residence in the 6900 block of Remmet Avenue in Canoga Park.
They were pronounced dead at the scene, said LAPD officer Gregory Baek. Both died from multiple stab wounds, according to the coroner's office.
The reason for the stabbing still remains unknown.
Manuel Carmona is currently being held at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic.
