Brandon Lincoln, a 20-year-old black man, was killed while allegedly attempting to rob a jewelry store Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the 800 block of North Avalon Boulevard in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The shooting occurred shortly after 6 p.m. when Lincoln and three suspected robbers entered Rios Jewelry, according to authorities. The store owner shot three of the assailants, who authorities said were armed.

One of the robbers fled the scene, while Lincoln and the other wounded person were taken to a hospital, LAPD spokeswoman Karen Rayner said. Lincoln died from his injuries at 6:30 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Two suspects are in custody, authorities said.

The Times has contacted investigators about the case and will provide more information as details become available.

So all of you out to make a coment, who is the victimmm ? The REAL VICTIM ? I just wonder, seems no one is reading or caring about all those coments posted in this page, and I saw the video, yes the cop was smilling away, of course, he wanted to look GOOD ! I dougth he cared either way for Rios or Brandon. The cop was doing the routine of when there is a shooting. The cop also MENTION that a group of 4 had been targetting the area, so for you that know Brandon, I believe he didn't just get invited on that DAY to come along like when one meets friends and they are going to a party and then they will say " just come with us, it's ok, the more the better" NO this was planned ! Right.... they knew what they were up-to. Robbers don't care, all they have in their minds is getting all they can regadless of the result, who dies or who lives. The video was sad, the part where his body just lays there, alone. Don't think I have a stone for a heart. Sorry for him and I am sorry for his relatives.

The cop with the BIG smile may have been happy because the store owner did his JOB for him lol...Seriously no store owner should ever need to keep, use, or even shot a gun to feel safe... Please this store owner has to earn a living if any robber of any race ( oriental, armenian ect.) comes in to robb any store are they suppost to just shoot only a certain ones ! Please a robber is a robber here, in china, spain, brazil or italy, don't think that no one is excussedd not even because of skin color, realllly what would it have been if the case was turned around would that have made some one happy..Rios lost a brother to a robber that shot him he was ------, now that don't make it right either... It was the act, not the color of the skin that should matter...so young to be doing dangerous and violent acts. What would any one done ? SERIOUSLY what if A robber comes to your work shop and.... well you get the picture.

in response to jag - he might be in trouble because you cannot shoot somebody for stealing you stuff. by the video they were only there maybe three seconds and by information reported he started shootin as soon as they brokr a glass. the fact no weapons were found and the short time they were there, he probably was not threatened. what if that only wanted to vandalize and run out. what if some one stepped on your lawn and you thought they were going to steal the hula-hoop or even if they did steal it, you can not shoot them. i hate crimminals as much as anyone, but you cannot shoot someone if you think they are going to steal your stuff. i should have brandished his weapon, and they probably would have ran so i am with jag, the owner could be in trouble. at the least he will never open again. i am not a street person but they dudes were and they know other street people. i doubt of those other people will let they guy go back in business. i wish him luck but i believe he is ruined.

I agree with you 100 %-If you could be our cities Representative we would have less use for this HR report. Can you run for office?LOL. But seriously, the way you were raised is the way all of these knucklheads should have been raised. There are so many young ladies having babies at such a young age;my neice had a baby when she was 14-I am still in shock about that and it has been four years since it happened. The only good part is the baby is healthy and she has the support of her family. Most of these young girls have no support system and they end up with more children and relying on the welfare system to help them raise their children. So if you could speak out with the same testimony you wrote here at a high school or middle school it might help save one kid from making a bad decision like Brandon Lincoln

Well ok, so Brandon was only 18, not 20. So what crow was he in? I'm sure my crow don't go robbing any one for a living, we all work. Was he not borned in the USA ? I got my social security card for free. Any person (child, teen) in the system I think has to have a SS muber anyway right? I know that ID cards are not that much, besides I think that when it comes to trying to get out of the countys expenses, strings can be pulled and a ID card is not a problem to get a job. REAL TALK is sooo right about the real care and time it takes to raise a kid. So happy to hear some one had a young mother that cared, that really cared for a change. All (mothers) that seek shall find MATTHEW 7:7 Sorrry for those that had none for what ever reason. Remember a few years back Mr. Rios lost some one because of a robbery that may be the reason that Mr. Rios had that gun for protection.

Yes it is a shame that this young man had to die this way, but I wonder if things would have went the other way and the shop owner would have been killed or one of your family members were killed by these 3 adults. Would everyone have the same view? Everybody has free will, and yes everyone should be well aware of the consequences. I know very successful people who had parents that were crackheads and some in foster care (how embarrassing one might feel) but they stayed out of trouble, some didnt make it and got in trouble, others finished high school, graduated from college, and became a physician assistant, in the military, government worker. Point is a lot are leading productive lives. It is a challenge I agree, but if we all are so concerned about turning these children around become foster parents, adopt, or volunteer. Each one teach one.

The majority of children that grow up without a positive parental influence have some form of contact with the criminal justice system. Lack of parenting or guardianship is the number one reason why poverty and crime continue to be so high today. Stop having babies if you can’t take care of them and raise them to be productive members of society. The system already fails us and we don’t need to help it by failing ourselves. I was raised in a single parent household with a mother that had me at 16 and she stayed on me so I wouldn’t end up a statistic in a low income area. Instead of investing in your kids Jordan’s, Xboxes and other stuff that doesn’t matter, teach them how to read!!! Education is the fundamental necessity to break this vicious cycle. I get so sick of reading about young black men that never stood a chance. Teach these youngsters peaceful and effective conflict resolution so they won’t make a split second decision that causes them to end up under ground or behind bars. On that note…when you are old enough to know right from wrong regardless of your upbringing, you have to strive to overcome the obstacles. Get out of victim mentality and go and get it. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13

I'm sure that no PARENT/GUARDIAN/ or BLOOD relative ever thougth or even planned that when a Son grew up, became an ADULT at an early age of 20, he would go robbing any one at any place ever, I'm so sad for who ever was a sister or brother to BRANDON, see he even had a good name, why on earth he went to that for? Now who ever took care of him as a baby is empty handed! Sorry for you all that I'm sure did care for him I know that all I wanted for my own is for them to have a real good life, to be some what better that what I have done, violence is killing all our hopes and dreams and hopes for a better future. May the Lord, our savior have mercy upon our children who will be on earth much longer than we. I want to say again, no one wants to see our young ones die not even of any kind of cancer or any accident I'm sure some one is hurting for his stupid way of acting. Sory for your loss.

562ver not everyone wants to work the looong hours and then wait for the pay... like u n me(or mooost citizens lol). now well things are so changed that I believe Mr. Lincoln got realll mix-up with the wrong crowd, but he did have a choice, he chose wrong soo sorry to know he was sooo young, and he could have done something real good with his life. Now Mr. Rios, he was real prepared because not even a month before the shoothing some other people had tried to rob him and to make things worse, a few years back, Mr. Rios and his brother got robbed to make it even worse Mr. Rios brother got shot and died (not at the same location, but yes it was in wilmington). Tell me how you would u react to all this? I think I would sell something with less temptetion lol. I have worked for good pay and yes for even $8 an hour and so what!!!! I feel good when I spend my hard earned pennies and don't tell God u want a J.O.B even if it is scrubbing toilets because God will give it to u..lol God gave me one too, but I did learned something from that experience....
