Bryan Jerome Woodson, 35

Bryan Jerome Woodson, a 35-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, Jan. 28, near West Oxnard Street and Aldea Avenue in Encino, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 10:15 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division responded to a call of shots fired at Lake Balboa Park, according to a news release from the department.

Officers arrived and found Woodson suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, police said.

Woodson was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Witnesses told police that there was an argument between Woodson and another person in the moments before the shooting.

Woodson was homeless and slept in the park, police said.
