Carl Bernard Sutton, 47

Carl Bernard Sutton, a 47-year-old black man, died Friday March 17,  weeks after he was assaulted in the 300 block of West Century Boulevard in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Sutton, who used a walker, was assaulted on Feb. 27 about 11 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

A witness called authorities, but police have not been able to identify the potential witness.

Sutton was hospitalized for two days then released. On March 17, Sutton was found unresponsive at his residence; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Twenty years ago, Sutton suffered a gun shot wound to the head, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office.

Police are looking for additional witnesses.
