Damion Gerade Weir, 33

Damion Gerade Weir, a 33-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, May 24, in the 3400 block of West 71st Street in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly after 3 p.m., Weir was hanging out in a garage with a group of people when two of them got into an argument and gunfire erupted, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

In the midst of the gunfire, Weir was struck.

Tevanie Mendez, a 29-year-old black man who was involved in the fight, was also shot.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man who was involved in the argument fled the scene. Detectives are working on identifying him.
