Tevanie Roshane Mendez, 29

Tevanie Roshane Mendez, a 29-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, May 24, in the 3400 block of West 71st Street in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly after 3 p.m., Mendez was hanging out in a garage with a group of people when he and another person got into an argument, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido. 

A gun was pulled out and Mendez was shot. Also struck was Damion Gerade Weir, a 33-year-old black man who was not involved with the argument.

Both Mendez and Weir were pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man who was involved in the argument fled. Detectives are working on identifying him and determining who shot whom.
