Man wanted in connection with fatal Sylmar stabbing is arrested

A 20-year-old man wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man in Sylmar last month was taken into police custody Tuesday, officials said.

David Landon Bird was arrested on a murder warrant in Wilmington about 10 a.m., said Los Angeles Police Det. Steve Castro.

Castro on Wednesday declined to say how police found Bird, but said “law enforcement resources” were used.

Bird is suspected is stabbing Terrell Anthony Butler, 27, during an altercation Jan. 29 at a Sylmar apartment complex, then fleeing the scene.

Bird, who was on parole for a 2015 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
