Edward Berber, 27
Edward Berber, a 27-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, after he was shot in the 1800 block of Charlemonte Avenue in Hacienda Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Berber was found dead in his home the morning of Dec. 6, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Martindale. His mother had gone to check on him because she hadn’t heard from him in a couple of days and he had missed work at his accounting job, Martindale said.
Investigators found Berber dead in his bed, where it appeared he had been sleeping, Martindale said. They believe he was shot sometime between Dec. 2 and Dec. 5, 2005, he said.
Berber was pronounced dead at the scene about 10:50 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Martindale said Berber was a father of two young children and had recently earned a master’s degree in accounting from Notre Dame University. He and his wife were separated and in the middle of a divorce, Martindale said, so Berber was living alone at the time he was shot.
Berber had no involvement in drugs or gangs, and lived in a quiet neighborhood of single family homes, Martindale said.
