Enrique Casique, a 39-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, April 28, after being shot in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

My Father died at age 81. My Father and I were blessed for having Enrique Casique in our lives for the few moments that we did. Enrique like many Latino males from the Los Angeles County Area, did start out a troubled youth. He, like many Latino males in all of California not just Los Angeles County, did find himself in the Gang life. My Father, like many Latino males from Los Angeles County Area was born Downtown L.A. and he never had a troubled youth or joined a gang. My father like many Latino males from the Los Angels County Area joined the Army in his youth, he was 82nd Airborne Paratrooper who served 2 tours. My Father was station in Korea just at the time of the cease fire approx. 1953-54. He was assigned Guard at the 38th Parallel DMZ/MDL. My Father became a structural California Field Ironworker after he fulfilled his duty to his Country for 8 yrs of honorable service. My Father was always just a Private in rank. I'm proud of my Father for his Duty and although he didn't die and get the Purple Heart like his elder brother did in WW11 serving as Army Combat Engineer, It's Ok that he was just an average guy. He wasn't perfect, my dear old Dad but he was my Father and I wouldn't trade him for 1,000 stepdads who society may have ranked higher. Enrique and I were happy and we were planning to live life out to our old age humble and hopeful. Enrique Casique was a great man and I loved all his Gang Related Tattoo's that gave him self esteem issues. He wasn't getting into trouble and it is heartbreaking and sad that he is written off as just another dead gang member or as 'hopeless trouble maker' by a child who doesn't know him at all, and doesn't even find him worth completing her comment for. He was a great cook. He had a high level of respect and overwhelming love and compassion for my elderly father. Enrique built my confidence up and he had no desire to die alone shot dead in the street. There is so MUCH more to WHY Enrique was in the streets at that time of morning. After a year of sorrow and grief...I'm going to get the lights shining on the true culprits and it isn't the shooters. They just got the misfortune of catching a whirlwind of fallout from conspiring greedy family members.
