Eric Griggs, 54

Eric Griggs, a 54-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, after he was stabbed in the 2000 block of West Adams Boulevard in Jefferson Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On Sept. 20 about 9:45 p.m., Griggs got into an argument with a significant other in an apartment, said Los Angeles Police Det. Rick Gordon. A witness intervened and, in defense of the woman, stabbed Griggs, police say.

Griggs was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to file charges against the person, and police are considering the incident a justifiable homicide.

Eric was a very close friend that worked with me at LAC USC MEDICAL CENTER. I have known and been friends with Eric for the past 19 years. I called him EZ because his swag was just so smoothe and swift. Eric was thee most coolest worker from his Department. Always cheerful, always greeted me with a smile. Forever respectful each and every time I would see him rolling around on his tram/cart that he drove. Eric is missed and will be missed not only by me but a lot of workers at the Medical center. It was a very sad day at the Medical Center when the news first came out about his situation. All I can say now is a friend gone too soon. And my sincere condolence to his wife and kids and the rest of his family.
