Erik Earl Adams, 38

Erik Earl Adams, a 38-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the 6100 block of Allston Street in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Shortly after 6 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a shooting in an alley in the area, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department.

Deputies found Adams suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m., according to coroner's records.

It's unclear what led to the shooting.
