Gerrik Mykul Thomas, 21
Gerrik Thomas, a 21-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday Jan. 25 near West 54th Street and 9th Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 p.m., Thomas was standing on the southwest corner of West 54th and 9th Avenue when a sedan pulled up, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. A person got out of the car, walked up to Thomas and opened fire, Garrido said.
The gunman then got back into the car, initially described as a white sedan, and drove away. Thomas was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
