Gus Bolanos Jr., 30

Gus Bolanos Jr., a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 31, in the 200 block of West Anaheim Street in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

About 11:52 a.m., Bolanos was in the passenger seat of a parked car when a man approached him and shot him multiple times, said Los Angeles Police Det. Julie Scruggs.

Bolanos was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

The suspect was identified by detectives as Jose Gonzalez Ruiz, a 29-year-old Latino, Scruggs said. He is the ex-husband of Bolanos' girlfriend, Scruggs said.

Gonzalez Ruiz was charged Feb. 6 with one count of murder with gun allegations, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office and court records.

Gonzalez Ruiz has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court March 12.
