Jose Asuncion Padilla, a 65-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, June 16, in the 11020 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Lynwood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 12:37 a.m., Padilla was closing up his seafood restaurant, La Playita Mariscos y Taqueria, when he was approached by three black males, who immediately shot him.

Padilla was taken to a hospital, where he was  pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The three males fled in a vehicle. Padilla’s daughter, Miriam Padilla, told KTLA that the restaurant "meant so much to him.”

“This place and his family meant the world to that man,” she said. “There is no man out there like my father."
