Janalthy Germain Orozco Cid, 19

Janalthy Germain Orozco Cid, a 19-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Friday, Nov. 10 near  South Manhattan Place and West 21st Streetin Harvard Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Orozco Cid was driving with another person in a pickup truck about 10 p.m. and had just turned north on Gramercy Place, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.

Orozco Cid noticed he was being followed by two men in a dark-colored sedan, police said. Orozco Cid stopped his truck, got out and an altercation occurred during which he was stabbed multiple times, Kinchla said.

Orozco Cid was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

On Nov. 13, Jonathan Bryan Castillo, a 22-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to online sheriff’s department records.

Castillo pleaded not guilty to one count of murder on Dec. 4 and is due back in court Jan. 11, 2018, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
