Jennifer Ortega, 20

Jennifer Avina Ortega, 20, a Latina woman, was shot about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the 1800 block of East Villa Street in Pasadena. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Pasadena Police Department said officers responded to a radio call of shots fired and a woman calling for help.  Upon arrival, officers found the woman, later identified as Avina, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.  Police did not have further details about the shooting, but asked anyone with information about incident to call Pasadena police detectives at (626) 744-4522.
