Jerry Chim, 24
Jerry Chim, a 24-year-old Asian man, was shot and killed Friday, Sept. 20, in the 6500 block of North Rose Avenue in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Just before 10 p.m., Chim and a group of friends were at a birthday party when a shooter approached and shot him and three others, including Sophon Kao, 26.
Two women were also wounded in the shooting, which occurred in the alcove of the home where the group was celebrating.
Chim was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m. at the scene, said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman. Kao also died at the scene.
One of the women was hospitalized in critical condition and the other woman was expected to survive.
A neighbor said she heard at least six “pops,” followed by screaming as she watched TV.
“One of them said, ‘My brother’s shot. My brother’s dead,’” Erica Reeder said.
