Jimmie Jackson Jr., a 21-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Jan. 2, in the 10600 block of South St. Andrew’s Place in Gramercy Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officials responded to multiple 911 calls about 3:15 p.m., and Jackson was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4 p.m., authorities said.

“He was basically sitting in his car, waiting for his friend, when a vehicle drove up and multiple gunshots were fired,” said LAPD Criminal Gang Homicide Det. C. Valento.

Jackson was struck multiple times in the upper body, Valento said, and witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored sedan. Only Jackson was injured in the shooting.

Authorities said there were some indications that the shooting was gang-related, but added that the victim was not documented to have any gang affiliations.

No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, 18 to 20 years of age.

First of all, I send my deepest sympathy to the family of this young man.
Yes, JB you are right, GOD sees all. "Take a life, prepare to give your life".

I don't live in CA, and don't care to live there, but I read LAT newspaper more offen than not. I can't believe a person can't walk the streets or sit in their car, without possibly being targeted by a gang. This is sad and something has to be done. Innocent people are dying for no reason at all.
I don't believe in violence, but as I have often said, bring in the right people and make the streets safe again, especially for the people who want to live right.
I didn't know this young man, but I can feel his mother's pain. I can tell by the messages left here that he was very much loved. Again I send my heart felt & deepest sympathy to the entire family.
I pray that the person responsible will be bought to justice very soon.
For the person that took Jimmie's life, you know who you are. Turn yourself in and repent. You must know "the devil is a liar", and you must part company with him.

Jimmie's mother is my best friend, we have been friends for 31 years. Never in my wildest dreams would I think this would happen to my friend. Her boys were very nice and mannerable. We all know people who live a lifestyle that's not conducive to being safe. Unfortunately that alliance may cause us our lives. Regardless if we participate in what ever it is our friends participate in. The biggest problem in the black community is the law breakers are lifted up and the people who want to live decent lives are mocked. There are plenty of people who know EXACTLY who did this. When we as a community start to stand up and make it unacceptable to kill one another; that's when this madness will end. Call me crazy, but I am surely glad my son wasn't raised in LA, you can call me a sellout and my son an Oreo, but he was safe and is safe. Come on people when is enough going to be ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!

What a tragedy both kids in less then two year smh wow. That whole entire area is really and truly a very dangerous area. I work in law enforcement and I know first hand that this once quiet and calm area has turned into a killing field. Being involved in a gang has no real huge affect in terms of who is being targeted. If you are young and look like you could be involved in gang you are going to be targeted. Some of these young men/women are not even involved in tgangs but they know people in that area who are. If there seen with these people at the wrong time it could cause them there life. I grew up in the Westmont/Gramercy Park area and thats a very dangerous area. If you have young men and young ladies please keep them off these streets as much as possible. Get them involved in something that does not require them to hang out in this area. My goal for this year is to attempt to open up a youth develpoment center in this area to attempt to curb some of this violence. This is non sense. These kids and young adults need something better then this. God bless this young man and his family. I will keep you in my prayers. ONE
