Jordan Patterson, 19

Jordan Patterson, a 19-year-old Black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Sept. 30, near East 87th Place and San Pedro Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

Shortly before 12:45 p.m., Patterson was driving a sedan east on East 87th Place when another vehicle pulled up beside Patterson’s car, said Los Angeles police Det. Nathan Kouri.

A person in the vehicle began shooting, striking Patterson and a person sitting in the passenger seat. 

It’s unknown which direction the vehicle fled. Patterson’s car came to a stop in the middle of the intersection, police said.

Patterson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The passenger in the car was hospitalized and expected to survive.

Patterson was a former Narbonne High School football player who helped lead the team to a state championship, according to a tweet from an SB Live reporter.
