Jorge Jeronimo, 27

Jorge Jeronimo, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, April 22, in the 1000 block of Lagoon Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jeronimo was standing in front of a stairway leading to an apartment complex about 1:45 a.m. when two people approached him and asked his gang affiliation, according to an LAPD news release which identified him as Jorge Hernandez.

The assailants then shot Jeronimo several times and fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

Paramedics were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators described the assailants as male Latinos. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
