Jose Jimenez, an 18-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Dec. 9, in the 1100 block of North Park Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Jimenez was walking down the street about 2:13 a.m. when he was approached by two unknown people, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

The three got into a fight and Jimenez was shot, Winter said. Authorities were called, and the victim was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Pomona Police Department homicide bureau at (909) 620-2095. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

This was a human life taken regardless if he was out on the streets at an ungodly hour or not. People should be able to walk the streets whenever they want to, without being attacked.

As far as the idiots exposing themselves by basically admitting to this crime, I hope you are caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Now if the rest of you want to do something about this violence consider joining me on FB page, "Pomona, Let's Take Our Hometown Back." We're running a petition drive to bring in outside help to quell all of the shootings and murders.

We're hoping that what we're attempting to do will be a catalyst across the country for cities like Pomona.
