Joseph Armstead, 38

Joseph Armstead, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, June 24, in the 10600 block of Vermont Boulevard in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Armstead was sitting in a car when he was shot several times, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:07 p.m.

Winter had no other details about the case.
