Joseph Rubalcaba, 19

Joseph Rubalcaba, a 19-year-old man, was found dead Wednesday, July 20, in the 8500 block of Pico Vista Road in Pico Rivera, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

According to a sheriff’s report, relatives and friends had been looking for Rubalcaba because they hadn’t seen him in a few days.

On Wednesday night, they went to a home that Rubalcaba was known to frequent. There, they found his remains buried in the backyard. They called the Sheriff’s Department, which patrols Pico Rivera.

Less than a week after the grim discovery, officials arrested and charged Robert Charles Redd in connection with Rubalcaba's death.

Redd, a 51-year-old white man, allegedly shot Rubalcaba once in the head July 18 and buried his body in the backyard of his home.

He is being held on $1-million bail. If convicted, Redd could face 25 years to life in prison.
